Healing Benefits of infrared saunas

infrared saunas

In life, there is usually not one particular “thing” that turns our health around. Nor, is there usually one magic pill that lifts us out of the dark pit of chronic illness carrying us cheerfully over the threshold to health and wellness. Instead, it normally takes hard work, dedication, set backs, perseverance, tenacity, and the will to make big lifestyle changes.  Thanks to this blog, I am getting to meet some of the wonderful people in the public eye who have dedicated their lives to teaching others how to live a healthy lifestyle.  And from what I’m learning, almost none of them choose this lifestyle without first being faced with illness.  In almost all cases they were scared straight into it, or forced into it as some almost lost their lives before making healthy lifestyle changes.  Most of us would happily live in denial feeding our body whatever we desired if there were no seen consequences (I’m raising my hand).  Health is something us humans naturally take for granted until we are faced with the scary prospect of loosing it. I look back over the years and there wasn’t much I haven’t tried in order to regain my fleeting health. I have also spent a lot of money (A LOT OF MONEY) on hospital bills and surgeries, doctors visits, both conventional and naturopathic, copays, medications and tests that were not covered, supplements, acupuncture, allergy shots, chiropractors, you name it, I tried it.  Every body is different but by now I know what did and what did not work to help heal my body. Today I will talk about just one of many tools to keep in your arsenal.  Infrared Saunas!

We all know sweating is a great and natural way to rid our bodies of toxins, but infrared saunas give you a more powerful detox as they can remove toxins in tissues at a cellular level.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), everyone has dangerous toxins stored in their bodies including pesticides and/or mycotoxins.  If you have been reading my blog for some time now you know I adhere to Doug Kaufmann‘s advice when it comes to  ridding the body of fungus and their mycotoxins, and because of the avid researcher that he is, I know I can trust his suggestions .  He also believes it’s one tool that can be used to clean the internal organs.  According to some studies  with far infrared saunas “15-20 percent of your sweat will consist of cholesterol, toxins, heavy metals, ammonia, and uric acid”.  For me there is something incredibly soothing and peaceful about the sauna.  As I spent my 15-20 minutes sweating out what I know is harmful to my body,  I am in awe of the bodies resilience and find beauty in the bodies healing process.

Where can you find an infrared sauna?  Many spas, gyms, and yoga studio’s have them.  Just google infrared sauna in your area.  That’s what I did and found a wonderful yoga studio close to home.   I go twice a week for 15 -30 minutes at a time.

Note:  Doug Kaufmann says he takes a shot of chlorophyll in a glass of water before hitting the sauna as it helps the body detoxify!  Some added benefits of infrared saunas is weight loss,  lower blood pressure, pain relief, and it can boost the immune system.

In the next few weeks we will be posting a video on how to check your home for mold.  A question we get almost daily so stay tuned!
